There
are four trends of Mediterranean kind that predominate
in Hungary, i. e. Italian, Spanish, Greek and Provincial,
the last is a collective noun used for all the countrified
trends. These nations are similar in lifestyle and temper
due to their similar geographical positions and climate
and therefore similar also in the area of arts and crafts.
The Mediterranean atmosphere is emphasized with warm colours,
stone-covered walls or walls made to look antique, with
simple wood floors or fired ceramic floor tiles. Whereas
provincialism is enhanced with the non-ostentatious works
of carpenters and smiths. The accessories are usually antique
articles for personal use with one basic criteria, i. e.
to fulfil their function.

The
word rustic means roughly worked surface. The rustic style
demands principally the surroundings of the countryside.
People surround themselves with a rustic style while living
in the city so as to create just this atmosphere. Rustic
style is the more dynamic form of the Mediterranean. The
point: objects in the interior should have the fingerprints
of human work and must be made of natural materials. Plastic,
the invention of our age, is expelled and therefore believers
of interiors furnished with rustic furniture can be regarded
in a way as a rebel nowadays. It is a demonstration against
a hectic and harried lifestyle.

The
style of the countryside originated in England and later
settled in America, too. This style appeals mainly to those
attracted to the slightly romantic and familiar atmosphere
of old times and is chosen by those who want to break away
from hectic workdays in their homes. It does not necessarily
possess formal features but rather represents an attitude
to life. A lifestyle with a slower rhythm, a close connection
to nature, and whose keywords are simplicity, comfort and
practicality.

The
mountainous and hilly province of Tuscany tinged
with olive and lime woods, colourful limestones
and scents of flowers is situated in Middle-Italy.
Its temples and castles preserve the works
of famous architects e.g. Pisano, Michelangelo
and they also inspire present-day architecture
and interior designing. The Renaissance was
born in this province and renewed among other
things architecture, decoration and ornamentation.
The
rustic style is full of interwoven contrasts
which can live side by side as in the Italian
temperament, i. e. calm and diverse, peaceful
and dynamic, rural and majestic, simple and lavish, settled and eclectic,
homely and artistic, comfortable and spacious, rustic and elegant.
The soft earth tones provide the basis of the Tuscan colour palette
i. e. light terracotta, yellow ochre, red ochre, light rusty red,
clay colour then cooler light blue, greyish blue and pale purple,
broken white, light green, stone-grey and the deeper thyme-green
and oil-green, lilac purple and lavender blue.
The products of Kunság Rustic have been designed in Mediterranean,
rustic and country style.
